How it works

A SkyCase is two pieces: a Shell that stays on your phone, and a magnetic backboard that carries the design. You change the backboard, not the case.

The two pieces

The Shell is the base. Clear, shock-absorbing, with raised edges around the screen and camera. It stays on your phone, and it comes in five colours: Black, Gray, Pink, Purple and Orange. Not every colour is made for every model — choose your iPhone on the product page and you'll see the ones available for it.

The backboard is the part people see. A slim magnetic panel that snaps onto the back of the Shell. Twenty designs, and every one fits every Shell.

How to swap


Swapping the backboard is designed to be simple, but it takes a little care:


1. Remove your phone from the Shell

2. Gently remove the phone frame from inside the Shell

3. Lift the old backboard off the back of the Shell

4. Snap the new backboard onto the back of the Shell

5. Reinsert the phone frame

6. Put your phone back in the Shell


First time: 3–5 minutes. After that: 1–2 minutes.


Why this design?


We could make it snap-on in 5 seconds, but it would sacrifice three things we prioritize:

- Proper alignment: The frame holds your phone perfectly still inside the Shell. Without it, the fit gets loose over time.

- Protection: The frame shields your phone's edges. Quick-swap designs expose the sides.

- Wireless charging: To keep your phone charged without removing it, we designed the backboard to separate from the Shell. A simpler design would block charging.

New to SkyCase? Start with the Bundle — a Shell plus the backboard of your choice for $69.95. Bought separately the two come to $94.90, so the Bundle saves you $24.95.

Already have a Shell? Then you only ever need backboards from here on, at $44.95 each. That's the whole idea.

One thing worth knowing: a backboard on its own isn't a complete case. It needs a Shell to snap onto. If you don't have one yet, the Bundle is the place to start.
